Department/Cambridge Rindge & Latin School Cambridge Rindge & Latin
School Community: Cambridge Rindge & Latin School (CRLS) is a
comprehensive high school divided into four Learning Communities
designed to promote high levels of learning and achievement for all
students. Honors courses are offered in all core classes (English,
History, Mathematics, and Science); Advanced Placement (AP) courses
are available to qualified students in grades 11 and 12. The
mission of the Cambridge Rindge and Latin School is to provide a

Cambridge Public Schools Health, Physical Education, and Wellness

their communities throughout their lives. The Opportunity : The
Health, Physical Education, and Wellness (H/PE) Department seeks a
passionate and skilled Adaptive Physical Education Teacher to join
our team. This position reports to both the Coordinator of Health
and Physical Education and the building principal or Upper School
Head. The Adaptive Physical Education (APE) Teacher will deliver
instruction aligned with the Adapted Physical Education National
Standards (APENS), SHAPE America National Physical Education
Standards, and the Massachusetts Comprehensive Health Curriculum
Framework. This teacher will apply department-approved strategies
to support the physical skill development of students with
disabilities and will provide specially designed instruction in
both inclusive and separate physical education settings. The APE
Teacher will collaborate closely with general education, special
education, physical education, and related services staff to ensure
students with disabilities achieve positive outcomes. Your Skill
Set : As the incoming Adaptive Physical Education Teacher, you will
possess many, though perhaps not all, of the following
characteristics and qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or higher
from an accredited institution with appropriate coursework in
Physical Education and Adaptive Physical Education Successful
teaching experience and/or training in Adaptive Physical Education
Valid Massachusetts PK–8 Physical Education Certification
(required) National CAPE certification through the Adapted Physical
Education National Standards (APENS) organization (strongly
preferred) Strong ability to deliver physical education and/or
special education services to students with disabilities Expertise
in explicit instruction related to motor skill development and
social-emotional learning Experience developing specialized
equipment and setting appropriate goals and objectives to improve
students’ motor skills Skill in using structured, multisensory, and
systematic approaches to instruction Ability to create, implement,
and evaluate individualized education plans in alignment with
district and departmental guidelines Capacity to collaborate
effectively with general educators, physical educators, special
educators, and service providers Experience administering and
interpreting both formal and informal assessments to guide
instruction and IEP goal setting Proficiency in modifying
instruction to accommodate students' needs and supporting general
education teachers in implementing accommodations Commitment to the
successful implementation of Individualized Education Programs
(IEPs) Organizational skills to manage reporting, data collection,
inventory, purchasing, and other assigned responsibilities Ability
to mentor and guide instructional aides supporting students in
