Department of Cardiac Surgery, a prestigious 15-star Society of
Thoracic Surgeons (STS) program. Based at Hartford Hospital, one of

Schedule: Full-time 3x13s, rotating. Premium differentials

About the Opportunity:
As a vital member of the Cardiac Surgery team, the APP will deliver
expert, compassionate care to patients in our 18-bed Cardiac
Surgery intensive care unit (ICU), step-down unit, and floor
settings. Responsibilities include:
Managed preoperative and postoperative care for cardiac surgery
patients.
Perform bedside procedures including central venous and arterial
line placement, intra-aortic balloon pump removal, etc.
Provide care for patients undergoing advanced procedures, including
heart transplants, ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation),
mechanical circulatory support, and transcatheter aortic valve
replacement (TAVR).
Conduct thorough patient assessments, developing individualized
care plans, and closely monitoring progress.
Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, fostering a culture of
teamwork and concise communication to ensure optimal patient
outcomes.
Support seamless transitions of care between the ICU, step-down,
and floor settings.
Provide patient and family education, ensuring a clear
understanding of the surgical process and recovery journey.
Schedule: Full-time employment includes day/night/weekend/holiday
rotation. Permanent night positions are available. Premium
night/weekend differentials offered.
Call schedule: No call

Qualifications
Qualifications:
Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) or Acute Care Nurse
Practitioner (APRN), preferably with 1+ years of relevant
experience in Cardiac Surgery, critical care, or surgical
settings.
New graduates are welcome to apply.
Eligible for licensure in the state of Connecticut.
Strong clinical, organizational, and communication skills.
