The Shift Supervisor is responsible for all activities in the assigned manufacturing area (either Production or Finishing Department). This includes, but is not limited to, people management, product quality, technical decisions, problem-solving, productivity and Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) practices and initiatives DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Monitor production cadence and ensure escalation takes place when goal attainments are not achieved with suggestions to improve and/or achieve. * Ensure equipment settings, procedures and recipes used on shift are within approved best practice parameters. * Monitor input and output quality continuously throughout the shift, escalate appropriately if quality is non-conforming or out of spec. * Utilize well established technical and troubleshooting skills to work through plant issues with staff for goal attainment. * Communicate with Engineers, Maintenance and other resources as needed to keep resources informed and engaged. * Be a consistent, visible leader in the area of personal safety including involvement in assigned Safety trainings and initiatives. * Participates as requested or desired in root cause investigations (RCI's) occurring within assigned areas of responsibility. * Identify opportunities with plant leadership to prevent injuries, exposures and spills. * Ensure company safety policies, procedures and expectations are understood and followed by all employees, escalate concerns/suggestions as appropriate. * Ensure individual and company goals and expectations are delivered communicated to all employees * Assist with coaching and mentoring Shift Leads to ensure focus of priorities, professional development and make recommendations as necessary regarding corrective or proactive matters to the Production Manager and/or Human Resources for further review and/or action. * Collaborate with Training team and Safety to ensure employees are trained and signed off in understanding work instructions and procedures, auditing periodically for effectiveness, suggest changes for improvements when appropriate. * Maintain adequate staffing levels at all times in collaboration with Leads, identifying opportunities for staffing level changes to support business demands; ensure effective cross-training to strengthen necessary skills for operational efficiency. * Carry out performance review process with all employees on the crew, to include carrying out the formal annual review process and providing daily feedback. * Manage consumables within areas of control including purchasing, organizing and identifying cost savings as needed. * Work collaboratively with Maintenance staff on equipment issues, ensure departmental PM's or daily priorities are completed. * Maintain organized work areas with staff for good housekeeping and safety best practices by leading crew 6S. * Coaching and mentoring crew to achieve a Lean / CI culture to support deployment of the Aspen Production System. * Performs other related duties as assigned by management. * Adopt and follow Aspen's core values of Safety, Quality, Integrity, Teamwork, Customer and Innovation on both a personal and professional level. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: * Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. * Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, and developing employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. QUALIFICATIONS: * High school diploma required, undergraduate degree preferred or relevant experience required with at least 5 years manufacturing experience in a similar managing production activities and people in a continuous manufacturing environment. * Must consistently demonstrate company values of Safety, Quality, Teamwork, Customer, Integrity and Innovation. * Must be flexible with schedule to work 12 hour shifts, 4 days ON / 4 days OFF. Plant operates 24/7 via 12 hour shifts (day shift 6am-6pm, night shift 6pm-6am). * Must demonstrate knowledge of manufacturing processes, technical skills and troubleshooting equipment individually and through assigned resources for operational efficiency. * Excellent communication skills, both verbal and electronic, and proven ability to relate with all levels within the organization.
