researchers. We are seeking an ambitious post-doctoral scientist,
with strong research and communication skills, to build a highly
collaborative, successful drug discovery and development team in
the Obesity research group in Boston. The successful candidate will
use a strong cell culture background and complementary wet
laboratory experience to play a critical role in supporting
end-to-end discovery efforts and established pipeline projects with
an emphasis on anti-obesity therapeutics. The candidate will be
responsible for setting up critical capabilities in the laboratory
setting and working with other scientists within and across
departments to achieve project and department goals.
Responsibilities Plan and independently carry out in vitro and in
vivo experiments to evaluate targets/pathways, proof of concept and
mechanism of action in obesity/diabetes and its associated
complications. Build out robust cellular models such as 3D
engineered skeletal and/or cardiac muscle bundles, using human or
mammalian, immortalized, primary or induced pluripotent stem cell
lines. Perform molecular and biochemical assessments (including
qPCR, ELISA, Western blot, etc) on in vitro and ex vivo samples in
collaboration with colleagues in other departments. Function
independently, work within a team-oriented lab environment, and
work within cross-functional project teams. Requirement for
accurate record keeping, independent data analysis, and reporting
of data in written and oral formats. Will perform work in full
compliance with Lilly Research Policies and complete all required
training activities in the timeframe specified. Present novel
methods and findings at conferences and publish in high quality
peer-reviewed journals. Basic Qualifications Ph.D. in cellular and
molecular biology, physiology or biomedical sciences. Expertise in
skeletal and cardiac biology and physiology Experience with human
or mammalian cell culture Additional Skills/Preferences
Self-directed and highly motivated individual who wants to learn
and develop new techniques while continually pursuing research and
publication goals. Excellent communicator (oral and written) with
presentation experience. A proven track record of significant
contributions to research projects, substantiated by first or
co-authorship on peer-reviewed scientific publications in
high-quality journals. High learning agility for new scientific
concepts and operational systems. A track record of productive
collaborations in interdisciplinary team environments. Proven
ability in developing cellular models. Experience working with
preclinical models of heart failure in vivo models. Prior work with
3D organoids and/or co-culture system. Additional Information This
position is not permanent. It is for a fixed duration of two years
with the potential to extend to 3 years and for a maximum of up to

on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic
location. The anticipated wage for this position is $58,000 -
$100,320 Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a
company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual
performance). In addition, Lilly offers a comprehensive benefit
